 President’s Invitation

Mr. Manohar Pawar

    Dear Colleagues,

It is a real privilege and honour to serve as the president

of the International Consortium for Social Development, Asia-Pacific (ICSDAP) Branch and invite you to our

biennial conferences, which are getting better and bigger with your support and participation. As many of you are aware, ICSD AP Branch’s fourth conference will be held from

27 to 30 June 2012, in Indonesia, in Yogyakarta city, which is located in the heart of Java Island and is a major historical and cultural centre. Yogyakarta is a befitting place for our conference theme: "Envisioning New Social Development Strategies Beyond Millennium Development Goals". The theme of the conference is an important one as we need to collectively deliberate and act to end poverty, and to promote health, education, gender balance, environment and partnership and cooperation beyond 2015.

On behalf of the ICSDAP Board and members, I would like to invite you to the conference and be part of this important deliberation and action.

The conference is kindly hosted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Social Work Consortium. Both national and international organising committees have planned well and are working hard to hold this conference. Leading social development thinkers have already confirmed their keynote and plenary speeches. In addition, the conference will include focused workshops/sessions, which

are expected to result in a series of publications on social development, social action

and post-millennium development goals. Most importantly, the conference registration

fee is kept very low and providing partial participation support will be considered to encourage participation from developing countries. In today’s economic and competitive climate, I believe, this is a very attractive offer. For details of the conference, please browse further.

In addition to intellectual exchange and sharing, many participants from over 20 countries from Asia, Africa, America and Europe appreciated the quality of professional network they were able to establish through ICSD AP previous conferences.  I believe you will be able to achieve more in Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta conference will be an

exciting one and I invite you to be part of it!

I look forward to extending a warm welcome to you at the conference!

See you in Yogyakarta!

Yours sincerely,

Manohar Pawar, PhD

President, ICSD AP and Professor of Social Work, Charles Sturt University, Australia
